The slowing down of RO is due to the fact that the game locks the 3D screen just
before displaying it. This is something that is pretty slow using OpenGL and
thus kills the performance.

I played it a little and saw no way to optimize it without new GL extensions or
'better' drivers.

Anyway, in your case, if you try with the NVIDIA drivers (instead of the NV
ones), you should have some performance boost (I run at about 10 FPS on my box
with a TNT2), but it's still not really playable.

I will still do some tests to see how fast it can run without this locking
(which will render the game unplayable as no mouse cursor will be displayed) but
well, just out of curiosity on the time lost due to this.
