Selecting in game is still possible by ctrl+click, double click etc, so it appears to be only mouse drag related problem It is regression compared to 1.3.18(and probably earlier) wine versions. It appears that 0eb19126e5c0efe7e5e0cbd4811c19523601973a is the first bad commit. I would like to add that rectangle selection sometimes works(like 20% of the time).
I also have this problem. I specifically remember the patch notes saying they reworked mouse input or something to that effect on this release. I cannot help but think the mouse "reworking" is some pretty bad looking code, it borked sooo much stuff for me so I've been sticking with 1.3.17. I can select units since around 1.3.20 however the selection box does not render like it should, it jumps around if you will. It is not a hardware issue the game itself is getting ~200 fps.
