ok when i set the windows version to vista or windows 7 the sound does not work. Don't do that, Wine's default win version is Win XP for lots of reasons.

It works in Windows Vista, it should work in Wine reporting Vista mode. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21073 Dave Thompson <davethompson(a)olympicsoftworks.org> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |davethompson(a)olympicsoftwor | |ks.org --- Comment #6 from Dave Thompson <davethompson(a)olympicsoftworks.org> 2010-01-29 00:05:47 --- I am having serious issues with game sound in World Of Warcraft as well. I have tried using both, the Win2000 and XP options. As I understand it, the Win2k option uses the most understood API..but this still throws the sound problems. These are crackling, sounding like the sample is not playing smoothly, and eventually the sound simply cuts out altogether. There can also be synchronous game artefacts in frame rate lag. The cut-out also often happens in synchronicity with other sound events such as keying up while using Mangler. It sounds a bit like it is a resource management issue. I run a fully updated 64bit Ubuntu 9.10 on a quad-core unit with 4gigs of ram, and WINE 1.0.1 from the official repos. Also, the sound issue occurs regardless if I am using the on-board sound proc, or USB headphones, so I don't think this is related to hardware. 3 other people in my guild that have started using Ubuntu 9.10 also have major sound issues. My wife and daughter both use fully updated Ubuntu 9.04(one uses 32bit and one uses 64bit) with WINE 1.0.1, and neither of them has any issues with game sound. I would therefore hazard a guess that it is a function of changes Canonical made to Pulse for the 9.10 release. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Turning the "hardware" checkbox in wow on and off again gives me sound for a couple of seconds/minutes untill it dies again. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Reason is that sound works fine for me, and hasnt failed like it has for you, but that I can also force it to stop working. When wine/wow is not running, I go to a website that ... has live flash videos with sound, but is not youtube. When I am there, the sound will cut out randomly and then just completely stop. But the rest of my OS sound still works, just for the video feed. Then I go to start WoW later but no sound in WoW (sound still works fine in OS) until I reboot. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
