I don't have the time to do any extensive testing right now, but here's what I
have so far:

The specific error messages have disappeared, but the symptoms are the same.
The program immediately exits when run.

However, while searching for a demo version I discovered there's a patch for
this game which is apparently necessary to run it under Windows XP. With that
update, the game runs. It then crashes later on with an infamous ???Unknown
Exception dialog. I guess that means this bug can be closed.
