[Bug 46207] New: shaders broken in EVE Online
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46207 Bug ID: 46207 Summary: shaders broken in EVE Online Product: Wine Version: unspecified Hardware: x86 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: directx-d3dx11 Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org Reporter: n.andrew.walsh(a)gmail.com Distribution: --- Created attachment 62889 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=62889 A combat site in EVE, which is surrounded by a giant black cube because of broken shaders Setting shaders to "high" quality in the graphics menu causes some shader elements in EVE Online to render incorrectly. Notably in the new Abyssal sites, as well as stars, around certain stargates, stations, and in certain anomaly sites. Józef Kucia submitted changes to the shaders in 3.16 and 3.17, which was around when I started having the problem. I'm not sure if it's a regression, or just work that still needs to be done. I've attached a screenshot to show what it looks like: rather than a haze or gas-cloud effect, the whole site is surrounded by a giant black cube. When inside this cube, visibility is poor, most assets are invisible, and it's difficult to play. Cheers. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. Andrew Walsh <n.andrew.walsh(a)gmail.com> --- Created attachment 63047 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=63047 log output for running wine. I ran EVE for a quick minute or two, boarding a mining barge. The smoke plumes create the shader error, so if anything was logged, it should appear. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. This forum post; https://forums.eveonline.com/t/alpha-graphic-textures-visible/482369 Shows images of 'explosions' failing to use the alpha texture properly. Instead a black plane (one or more) is displayed. Then the user downgrades his wine version to 9.16 and explosions return to normal. Obviously this workaround is now broken, as any version less than 10.8 fails to launch the game. Something was changes between 9.16 and later versions that affect the alpha texture for this user. At present there is no clear way to test 9.16 on the client.
