Wine 0.9.41, demo in comment 7 does show the same problem.

Nvidia GT 5200, nvidia glx 1.0.9631+2.6.20.5-16.29 drivers, no compiz/beryl.

I'll attach the +tid,+d3d,+d3d9,+d3d_surface log in a sec.
