Runs great on Vista. It installs fine on Wine. To start the app, do cd ~/".wine/drive_c/Program Files/3impact5demos" wine demos.exe skinnedragdoll.dll The first problem is bug 21790; do 'winetricks vcrun2005' to get past that. The next problem is a crash related to d3dx9_36.D3DXAssembleShaderFromResourceW, roughly bug 12020. Work around this with 'winetricks d3dx9'. The next problem is that full-screen mode doesn't work (bug 21791). Work around this by telling the demo to run in a window. This prompts you to press N, and then crashes after you do, with wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x0000001c at address 0x431c10 (thread 0009), starting debugger... I only get blank screen. (running command was wine demos.exe) fixme:d3dx:D3DXLoadSurfaceFromMemory Unhandled filter 0x3. I have few of these on my console. Then I retry the game with and I do get crash "wine demos.exe skinnedragdoll.dll" fixme:d3dx:d3dx9_mesh_OptimizeInplace D3DXMESHOPT_ATTRSORT vertex reordering not implemented. I didnt have vcrun2005 installed. Installing it removes just one fixme line. Same crash after installing it. I don't know how to tell if 21790 is fixed. With pure wine I see blank screen and that's it. with patch from https://github.com/wine-compholio/wine-staging/tree/master/patches/d3dx9_36-... it goes forward. The current issue is that fixme:d3dx:ID3DXMeshImpl_OptimizeInplace D3DXMESHOPT_ATTRSORT vertex reordering not implemented returns E_NOTIMPL; and goes into "cleanup" https://github.com/wine-compholio/wine-staging/tree/master/patches/d3dx9_36-... fixes that. Without that hack or patch you get a crash. Then after working around the crash it starts to complain about fixme:d3dx:d3dx9_effect_init Failed to parse effect, hr 0x8876086c. fixme:d3dcompiler:compile_shader Compilation target "fx_2_0" not yet supported which is most likely a dupe of something. wine 1.9.8-git -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
