http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18128 Summary: Sniper Elite: Player falls through floor Product: Wine Version: 1.1.19 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: directx-d3d AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: stonej4(a)mcmaster.ca Created an attachment (id=20582) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=20582) Debug output from Sniper Elite When playing Sniper Elite, there is a clipping issue in certain consistent parts of the map where the floor allows the player as well as AI opponents to fall through and keep falling infintely below the map seeing nothing but the skybox of the map. Because oppenents fall through the floor and are not killed this makes the game unplayabe beyond the first level. Debug output attached. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

I'm trying to work out if it's related to the map environment, or whether it's a totally random/sporadic happening. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Also in multiplayer, but in this mode the game is still playable, because you don't fall down endless, just a little and you can jump out of the "hole". -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

It happens in specific places on the map. Also in multiplayer, but in this mode the game is still playable, because you don't fall down endless, just a little and you can jump out of the "hole".
Indeed, confirming this is the case with 1.1.42 & 1.1.43 as well..although I do still fall a long way, it is at least possible to get out of the "hole" as you put it (I call it "SkyboxLand" ;) ... perhaps the positional data being fed to the process from the server-side helps here?...strange indeed.. Back in single player mode, second mission, I actually stumbled upon a small line of ingress that lets me get past the point where falling thru the floor occurs. In this area of the map, I found the collision detection -very- flaky and it was possible to look thru textures (walls objects etc) & into the skybox area just about everywhere...it's possible to move into stationary objects/buildings here and then fall thru the floor - most frustrating ;) -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18128 --- Comment #8 from Franciszek Janowski <nobange(a)poczta.onet.pl> 2010-04-18 14:45:56 --- If you know the location of these "holes", you can avoid them. But in the second mission you have to protect german resistance members. They must live, or you fail the mission. In my case, at least one of them falls through the floor every time. Does anyone have a save file with second mission accomplished? Next clue: once I tried to run Sniper Elite on virtual Windows XP (VirtualBox + 3D enabled). Performace was poor, a few fps. But I was able to check if it works. Guess what: holes were there too, at exact same places. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
