How to disable hardware acceleration for flash in wine? Are there any registry key to do the trick?
You need to use Wine's iexplore program to visit a website using Flash. For instance: http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/ Right-click on the Flash content near the top of the page and choose "settings." Then you can uncheck the option "enable hardware acceleration." After that, I was able to start the game and navigate through a few screens, but I didn't really try to play it... -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25533 --- Comment #7 from Alexey Loukianov <mooroon2(a)mail.ru> 2010-12-22 22:13:21 CST --- I had installed latest flashplayer using winetricks to give your advice a try. Unfortunately browsers (both wine iexplorer and win32 version of Mozilla Firefox) also hanged hard just at the moment any flash content appears on page. I had managed to turn the flashplayer hardware acceleration off by transfering appropriate settings file from a Windows XP installation (I have a notebook with Windows XP Home installed + Firefox + Adobe FlashPlayer 10.1). At first I disabled hardware acceleration in browser on Windows XP machine and then copied the file "%USERPROFILE%/Application Data/Macromedia/Flash Player/macromedia.com/support/flashplayer/sys/settings.sol" into my wineprefix. It helped to workaround the problem and made the game playable. This workaround isn't a good one for wine users as it require working copy of Windows XP to do a fix. Hope wine would be fixed so recent versions of Adobe Flash Player would work correctly. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Scuse the repost but I would like to mention while visiting the page under iexplorer.exe in wine before the crash occurs it loads the page mentioning "get flash player now" under the flash object as if flash player isn't even installed.
Looks like the advice one had posted about using wine's iexplorer.exe to disable flash player GPU acceleration wasn't correct at all. Wine version of iexplorer.exe had been introduced with initial ActiveX plugins support only in the latest development releases of wine (1.3.9 and later) and I still can't get flash player ActiveX to work under wine's iexplorer.exe. So the only option to try is to install "netscape plugin" version of flash player and use win32-build of the Firefox under Wine. On my system such attemps leads to almost immediate hangs after opening up a page with embedded flash content. I would try to produce dummy settings file for flash player with GPU acceleration turned off and attach it to this bug report so one wishing to test if disabling hardware acceleration workarounds the problem on his or her system. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25533 --- Comment #15 from Alexey Loukianov <mooroon2(a)mail.ru> 2012-04-17 09:27:27 CDT --- With Wine 1.5.2 the behavior had changed. Adobe Flash 10 (and thus Machinarium) no longer crashes to desktop under Wine when hardware graphics acceleration is set to be enabled, but there are some rather odd problems with non-refreshing graphics output at fullscreen mode, and problems with handling mouse input (i.e. sometimes there's no reaction to the mouse clicks on the flash application UI elements). I think that this bug should be closed FIXED, and I'm going to create a separate reports for the two bugs mentioned above. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
