[Bug 12852] New: Alibre Design: installer fails
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12852 Summary: Alibre Design: installer fails Product: Wine Version: 0.9.60 Platform: PC URL: http://www.alibre.com OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: tpikonen(a)gmail.com Created an attachment (id=12541) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=12541) Wine error output when running Alibre Design installer The installer for Alibre Design (AlibreInstall_V10SP1.exe free download from alibre.com) fails in Wine. The installer starts and extracts files from CAB-files, and then offers to install "a supported version of Microsoft Virtual Machine". This installation fails, and the installer displays a popup suggesting to contact Alibre support. The supported version of MSVM is available for download at the alibre.com website, but running this installer before running the alibre installer does not change anything. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

The easiest way is to separately install msjavx86.exe as prerequisite. Set wine config to "Windows NT4". You need "extrac32.exe" in c:\windows because installer needs it for cab files extraction (in later windows versions it's located in c:\windows\system32), . Start install, it should finish without error message. For Windows 2000 and up there are multiple installer issues which need to be tracked separately. Thanks for your help. Installing msjavx86.exe with this method works (sort of, it first pops up a "could not install" message, then an "installation complete"). After this the Alibre installer, run with windows version set to XP, starts but soon fails with a Java error: Executive.loadClass: class com.ms.xml.util.Name not found trace = -FS-LR With corresponding popups in the windows interface. So apparently the Java VM installation did not really succeed. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Installation does not work with v11 (AlibreInstall_V11_1.exe).
msjavx86.exe is no longer required, but now the blocker is at least partially .NET Framework 2.0, see bug 10601.
The Alibre installer tries to install dotnetfx20.exe, which fails. When running the Alibre installer second time, the actual installer starts, but suffers from graphics problems and does not complete. The log output of the failing second installation attempt is attached.
This works fine for me in current. There's one (non-fatal) complaint about wbem-directory not existing. I'll send a patch for that, but that was not what this bugreport was about. The msjavx86.exe issue is already covered by another bug. The issues you describe above have apparently been fixed -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
