[Bug 14577] New: Guitar Pro 5 freezes a few seconds after being launched
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14577 Summary: Guitar Pro 5 freezes a few seconds after being launched Product: Wine Version: 1.1.1 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: major Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: Lhademmor(a)gmail.com Created an attachment (id=14937) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=14937) Output of 'wine GP5.exe' in terminal Hi all Being able to use Guitar Pro was one of the few worries I had when switching from Windows to Ubuntu. Unfortunately, it seems that Wine is unable to run it... I've installed Guitar Pro 5 in my ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files , and everything went fine. But when I try to run it with 'wine GP5.exe' I get to choose language, and am presented with the main window and a blank sheet - with is good. But the window immediately freezes, leaving me unable to click on anything. Then I have to kill it manually, unfortunately. Wine'ing it from the Terminal gives me the following output (attached as 'output-from-running.txt'). -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Can you try with a clean .wine directory? Maybe with Wine 1.0.0 as well? From other bug reports on Guitar Pro, it looks like others have gotten further.
What do you mean 'a clear .wine directory'? Should I delete all the other programs I have installed in ~/.wine/drive_c ?! Also, what's the easiest way to try out Wine 1.0.0? Should I uninstall the current version and downgrade, or is there an easier way? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Sorry, got the attachment thing wrong (newbie here). Here's what I meant to write: I think I am experiencing the same problem with GP5. I'm on Kubuntu Hardy, now wine-1.1.7 When I start GP5 it freezes and does not redraw itself. When I launch it from the command line, and hit Ctrl+C in the console window, it displays a message box saying "Frappe de Contrôl+C". Usually, that box works and I can click it and a few other ones ("Violation d'access ..." (twice), "Control 'MediaPlayer1' has no parent window.") that follow it away. After that, the app works normally. When I quit the app, it again reports an access violation, and the wine debugger kicks in. Console output attached. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

I'll run another regression test in some days to confirm the first one, but in the meantime an answer from the dev team would be wonderful. Oh, there is also a clone of this bug, it's 15147 but i don't know how to clone a bug. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

There's no need to clone a bug, what you want to do is mark it a duplicate of 15147. Yes, the audio hang problem is known, there is a patch to revert it in bug 15147 and the author has responded there. It's a known issue and affects various applications. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 15147 *** -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
