Placing native d3dx9_36.dll (or d3dx9_31) in the game directory works around the crash when entering planetary battle mode. Please try the game with the attached patch. It's a hack which returns D3D_OK when surface cannot be loaded. If the game starts with this patch, some textures are expected to be black. Space Rangers: A War Apart. Planetary battles was playable with 4.2-staging, but after updating to 4.3-staging now there is only black screen instead of all 3D graphics.

I think so, yes, but my intention was to check if this is the same or some different regression before next release. Can this be reproduced on some demo?
