I can get it to happen by clicking on Name List in the toolbar, typing some data, and then trying to do copy/paste.
Thanks. Yes, that's exactly the problem. It freezes when copy is clicked.
Then again, just clicking anything will cause the app to crash under Wine.
Don't understand this. For me, clicking anything doesn't cause a crash. Initially, I could navigate and open menu items, but closing them, or the app., caused a crash. Since I added override ole32 native (my bug 11178) that's all fixed and Legacy is useable. Incidentally on bug 11960 you were able to create a web page, which seems to conflict with 'just clicking anything will cause the app. to crash under Wine.' Am I misunderstanding you? While checking out functionality of Legacy 5, found that copy and paste do not do anything - apart from the first time I tried, when they caused the window/app. to freeze.
I'm redefining the problem. If you click on an individual in order to edit, copy/paste will or will not work depending upon which field is being edited. When the individual's information window is open, the upper half contains edit boxes for names, dates locations, etc. Pasting into any of these may cause Legacy to freeze, or, in some cases, the operation appears to freeze but the window/box can be closed. The lower half box allows cut/paste as normal. In general, cut/paste in various areas may give one or other of these outcomes. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

I've now encountered another similar way to crash Legacy in Wine. When the individual's information window is open, the lower half box allows cut/paste as normal, except when attempting to over-type or delete highlighted text. Hmm... I've just been attempting to reproduce the problem, but failed. Yesterday it failed frequently, but not solidly. I'll leave this in for now and will do more testing. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

I did a few more quick tests without any problem. Then I had 12 lines of similar data to input. I wrote the first line, copied it to the second line and did some edits via highlight and paste over, then repeated these actions. Three times Legacy crashed during this. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Could you retest? I couldnt figure out how you do the copy/paste thing. Never used this software.
Now using Version: 1.7.28-1.3. Was able to copy and paste without any associated crashes. As the problem has been intermittent, I'll try a few more times before saying it's OK. To copy/paste, if you open Legacy and create a new file then add a person. Enter a name for the person, then say his birth date and location, then lower down, under Events/Facts, click add then select say Census, etc, then in the Notes section, you can copy/paste in that box or to/from the higher up boxes. Whilst I didn't get any crashes doing this, I did have quite a few other crashes along the way. When I get the chance I'll try to get some sense there. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. Sounds fixed, other issues should have their own bugs. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

I am trying to replicate the issue. I am at the notes section. I lost track from where I should copy/paste things into notes. And how did you do that? I am trying to replicate the issue. I am at the notes section. I lost track from where I should copy/paste things into notes. And how did you do that?
I've just retried what I was doing originally, using the steps I included in Comment 13. When you follow those steps, initially the Notes section is empty. I'd entered data into the four fields at the top of the Add Event window, and used the right mouse to highlight the place I had entered, and again using the right mouse button pasted into the Notes section. At this point, Legacy crashed AGAIN! It only happened the first time, and subsequent attempts did not crash. However, doing a copy that way does not take a copy, and any previous contents are still present, but using ctrl + c did work as it should. Pasting using the right mouse button works correctly though, as does ctl+ v.
I just did ctrl+v and empty my buffer what I got there and it works like this with no issues, but am I doing it wrong?
So, the original problems are still present, at least in part. I'm now on wine1.6 (1:1.6.2-0ubuntu14) xenial. (Linux Mint 18.1 KDE). I hope that's clear. If not, let me know. Oh, another crash. This time I was on the Individual Information window, and used the right mouse to copy the location field and that was when it crashed. This time it looks like a rock solid problem as I tried three times and each crashed. That might help to get a solution.
