Old versions used to run (if I recall, version 15 worked with wine 1.xx and Linux), but at least since version 17 (current version is 20) it stopped working. I have tried many versions of wine, both in Linux and now in Mac OS and the program always fail, just when starting. I imagine it can be due to some dll, possibly imported from the development tools used by the software makers, and possibly there is some trick to solve the problem, but I can't find any information in the web, so I'm attaching the log to see if you can guess it for me. This software is possibly not used by many other Non-Windows users, but even so I found a reference to it for an old version in the App database, and also queries of other users with the same problem. It would be great for me to be able to run it directly from my machine without having to resort to a virtual machine. It`s not a patch but really a hack to pinpoint where the crash comes from (and if we have same crash) I found that though the installer crashes, the 32 bit version starts fine, but the 64 bit one crashes for me too. I`ll attach debuglog later. the attached hack makes it start for me. In the meanwhile, I've attached the log produced as you suggested. I'm using Glover and Sarma edition of version 17 (you can find-it in https://www.powerworld.com/gloveroverbyesarma). It's supposed to be just as a companion to the book, but I thinbk you can download it the same. Nevertheless, I had this problem with all versions of powerworld since version 17, even in the demo/student version. I just tried to install the 32 bit demo version and it fails to install here (I'm using the binary package of Wine 4.0 downloaded today). I just tried to install the 32 bit demo version and it fails to install here (I'm using the binary package of Wine 4.0 downloaded today).

Hi, even though the installer crashes, the app is probably installed anyway. Could you try if the 32-bit version runs for you. So I tried to install the 32 bit version of powerworld 20 with the Wine stable, Wine staging and Wine devel binary packages, downloaded today from https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/macosx/download.html. In all cases, I could not install the 32 bit version (the installer crashes before copying any files). I used new .wine directories to be sure there were no conflicts from previous installations. Hi Luis, from the log: wine: cannot find L"C:\\windows\\system32\\pwrworld.exe" The debuglog is not useful, you have to cd into the directory where it is first to start the program. I had to kill the process at the end (I had also forgot to comment on this, as it always happen - I had to kill the wine-preloader to force it to stop). Recalling: I'm not able to install the normal demo version (20) in 32 bit or 64 bit in Wine 4.0, 4.3 and 4.4 for Mac. Version 17 of the simulator is 32 bit only, AFAIK The installer of version 17 also produces a few errors and fails at the end, but after copying the files to the destination. There is some problem (with Xcode, I believe) that for now prevents me from compiling the 32 bit version of wine, so I couldn't test the hack. A few trial and error things you might try otherwise (maybe you`re lucky) are -change windows version (to winxp or /and win 8 - disable dwmapi (WINEDLLOVERRIDES=dwmapi=d wine pwrworld.exe) - winetricks corefonts -winetricks comctl32 (but that might crash earlier, set it back to native if it doesn`t work) -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
