[Bug 28489] New: Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter: graphical glitches
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28489 Summary: Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter: graphical glitches Product: Wine Version: 1.3.29 Platform: x86 URL: http://www.fileplanet.com/162772/160000/fileinfo/Ghost -Recon-Advanced-Warfighter-Demo OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: minor Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: gyebro69(a)gmail.com Created attachment 36542 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=36542 GRAW demo terminal output After installation the game starts in full screen mode by default. When starting a new game one can observe that most of the textures are missing from the game (see the upcoming screenshots). Workaround: you have to switch between full screen and windowed mode in the Options->Video menu (the idea was stolen off the AppDB page: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=9999). Even if you selected windowed mode previously, the next time you start the game, the problem is there again. So you have to switch modes *twice* (windowed -->full screen -->windowed). Tried with Wine-1.1.35, 1.2.3, 1.3.x: all the same. Native d3dx9_* dlls don't help. Can be reproduced in the demo too (requires physx). I found out that setting "AlwaysOffscreen" to "enabled" in the registry makes the problem go away (although performance suffers). http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28489 --- Comment #4 from GyB <gyebro69(a)gmail.com> 2012-07-20 13:08:30 CDT --- AlwaysOffscreen enabled by default now: http://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/commitdiff/09443f14e75e134328643b5d33a... This makes both GRAW1 and GRAW2 render the scenery correctly. The reported problem still occurs with ao=disabled. Could it be considered "fixed"? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

This makes both GRAW1 and GRAW2 render the scenery correctly. The reported problem still occurs with ao=disabled. Could it be considered "fixed"? Probably, there are a few bugs that are hard or impossible to fix without AlwaysOffscreen, and the long term plan is for ao=disabled to go away, although it might still take a good while before that actually happens. (I'm guessing sometime post-1.6.)
