FWIW, I've experienced precisely the same results -- the "cannot read file
(Normal.dot) and the following ole error(s) in the term:
err:ole:StdMarshalImpl_ReleaseMarshalData could not map object ID to stub
manager, oxid=800000009, oid=5
err:ole:CoReleaseMarshalData IMarshal::ReleaseMarshalData failed with error
0x8001011d

This is with with Word 97 running on Wine 9.24, on Gentoo. Reverting to Wine
9.22 (current stable Wine release for Gentoo) results in the "not enough memory"
warning.

I haven't yet tried 9.25 or the proposed patch.
