I'm using metacity-2.20.2-1.fc8. I tested a RHEL5 with Gnome/metacity (metacity-2.16.0-8.el5) and that one doesn't show the problem. So the bug really looks like a metacity bug in Fedora 8 or a bug with my setup (though removing the .wine directory had no effect). I'll install a test box with Fedora 8 and test it there.
