Are you able to test directly on your desktop without any remote control viewer (VNC/etc) ? (because it is a virtuell server in the cloud I do not find a hole for my keyboard plug) It is a real fresh install Ubuntu 14.04, Server without GUI, but LXDE via VNC. Enabed numlock results in numbers, disabled numlock results in caret movement. Tested in Wine 1.6 and 2.0.
