[Bug 28757] New: Lord of the Rings Online lost audio capabilities in ALSA
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28757 Bug #: 28757 Summary: Lord of the Rings Online lost audio capabilities in ALSA Product: Wine Version: 1.3.27 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: samurai_no_densetsu(a)yahoo.es Classification: Unclassified In recent versions of wine Lord of the Rings Online lost sound, music and voice-chat when ran on an pure ALSA setup. It doesn't even show the available audio devices into the game options, and reviously it worked out of the box. After a bit of research found that setting openal32 as native in winecfg restores sound and music, but not voice-chat. Also, using pulseaudio enables again all sound capabilities, but this is not an ideal scenario for ALSA users. The game client can be downloaded at: http://www.lotro.com/support/download-lotro -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28757 --- Comment #1 from Andrew Eikum <aeikum(a)codeweavers.com> 2011-10-28 09:33:31 CDT --- I gave this a test and wasn't able to reproduce it. Is it still happening for you? Can you attach a log with the channels listed at <http://wiki.winehq.org/Sound>? Also, which operating system are you using? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

I believe that is a known issue to some users, because I have seen threads about this on ubuntu forums but it seems to happen also in opensuse and other distros. A fine example of this is: http://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?p=66667&sid=e5b253888b1385d19193b2eed9... For me, using the Wine stable 1.2.3 using the ESound driver results in full audio and gameplay capabilities other than voice input. Using ALSA under 1.2.3 results in the same crash as 1.3.31 also. Intro, movies, and gameplay sound are all working using ESound. I will go back to Wine 1.2.3 and use ESound for the time being. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

I'm not sure I fully understand your reply. I attached two logs and you are refering to the one with working sound. I do not know if the app needs a Hardware buffer, but with a simple override it works. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Is this still an issue in current (1.7.6 or newer) wine? If so, please attach the terminal output in 1.7.6 (see http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log). -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
