When it gets to the loading screen everything is fine again, and it loads the main menu. The menu works fine at full speed for less than half a second, then my framerate tanks to about 1-2 FPS. After a few seconds of this (the game works fine, it's just incredibly laggy) the window locks up entirely. I can't do anything after that except mash ctrl+alt+delete until I log off. I have used apt-get purge as well as apt-get uninstall and then re-installing multiple times, and it doesn't help. Updating to 1.7 fixed the lag issue, but now when I try to set the game to windowed mode, the screen goes black. After a while I can see my cursor again, but I still can't see anything. (I had to log off to get everything working again)

Not a problem anymore, it launched in windowed mode this time :) So at this point it's just a small hitch that needs working out. When I'm not doing anything the framerate seems to be barely above 30, and when I'm driving around it dips significantly below 30, even on the lowest settings. On windows I can play fine on maximum graphics. Also, when I first turned down the particle quality, the edge of the window spazzed out a bit... This is quite annoying, and it makes the game not so fun to play anymore. What should I do?
