For example I can run the game fine under Gentoo X86_64. The Warhammer Patcher is known to get stuck on Ubuntu. Would be interesting to see what configuration is used to build Wine under Gentoo ? I checked mine, which doesn t specify any configure flag. If I run warpatch.bin I can get the window to appear only by closing the wine desktop window and holding down "I" key. Of course then the window is doomed. I upgrade from wine 1.0 to 1.1.5 thinking it better, but I'm not such it was necessary, I see no evolution. And of course I have the display "fixme:shdocvw:PersistStorage_InitNew (0x134d68)->(0x7c0da0)" without DEBUG And too many lines with WINEDEBUG , so I can't use it the "wineboot -r" doesn't work by me I'm not certain of my installation of DirectX (I've followed the guide : http://www.wine-reviews.net/microsoft/directx-90c-march-2008-redistributable... ) and then I remove the dll exceptions explained in it and I leave Wine doing what it automaticly (why not). Of course, there is another problem, however, in that wine 1.1.9 forces builtin winhttp, which generates a different game patcher error. See bug 16165 for details on that. With the offending patch, number e4f7809cc9969c693d910348315502892848aaf9, reversed, native windows winhttp.dll is allowed to laod, and with no other patches, the patcher is working for me. The winhttp issues should be fixed in Wine 1.1.12 (bug 16165) The lockup after "fixme:shdocvw:PersistStorage_InitNew (0x134d68)->(0x7c0da0)" is also being considered in bug 15323. This bug should possibly be marked as a duplicate of bug 15323, since there's more debugging information there and it's more focussed on that issue.
