I can get the same result by just running msie401sp2.exe, and then go to the created folder IE4SETUP, and then launch IE4SETUP.EXE. This error is because Wine does already have an Internet Explorer. The installer recognises an Internet Explorer being installed but does not know what to do with it as it isn't a previous version of MSIE. You'll need to disable / remove that somehow to install Internet Explorer itself. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

You'll need to disable / remove that somehow to install Internet Explorer itself.
That's what iexplore -unregserver does (basically). You also need to remove some DLLs and set overrides for them if you actually want to use IE, but it's not necessary just to see this bug. Are you sure you see the same error? The error I'm talking about happens after the installer spends some time installing various things, and explicitly lists which components failed to install. Trying to run the installer in a brand new prefix gives me a generic failure before anything can be installed. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

I think there may be a bug open for that somewhere but I don't know what it is. There is probably another recipe to get this working but for now I'm assuming this is blocked, and will look at it again later. wine-1.6-rc4-122-g104adb7 -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

You need to be patient and it will finish. It probably search for something through the mounted drives (actually i missed removing z:). For me it took about 1min and i got exactly the same results as in comment 0. With "native advpack" the VDO Player is installed immediately. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ...the VDO Player installation simply hammers the hard drive continuously for some reason...
This is why I suggested removing the Z: drive, sorry I neglected to mention it before. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
