But even after installing MS TTS package from http://www.bytecool.com/voices.htm it still does not recognize any voices. Visit and install: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=27225 x86_SpeechPlatformRuntime\SpeechPlatformRuntime.msi http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=27224 MSSpeech_TTS_en-US_ZiraPro.msi These are the same voices available under SAPI5 on Windows. At this point you should see available voices under the Microsoft Speech Platform tab. If you attempt to "Read aloud", you'll might see an error "Can not synthesize the speech OLE error 80004005". This indicates that msxml needs to be fixed. Install https://wiki.winehq.org/Winetrick. Run winetricks, and select "Install a Windows DLL or component." Install msxml3. As for comment 2 I don't know what version of wine you are using but I don't have that problem here, there is no need to install packages manually too.
