[Bug 32897] New: Final Fantasy XI Crashes Immediately on PlayOnline startup
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=32897 Bug #: 32897 Summary: Final Fantasy XI Crashes Immediately on PlayOnline startup Product: Wine Version: 1.5.23 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: gc97(a)cornell.edu Classification: Unclassified Created attachment 43447 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=43447 Backtrace When starting PlayOnline viewer to play Final Fantasy XI, no window loads and instead a dialog shows saying there was a fatal error which encourages me to file a bug. I'm finally obeying the dialog box. This behavior has been present since about 1.5.18. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=32897 --- Comment #2 from Geoff <btwisgac23(a)gmail.com> 2013-02-05 17:45:15 CST --- I am unable to run a regression bisect because the installer won't run either. Should I create a new bug for the installer and then mark that this one "Depends on" it? I have a working install in my normal .wine directory that I currently run under 1.5.10 and I installed way back around 1.3.25. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=32897 --- Comment #4 from Claquesous <btwisgac23(a)gmail.com> 2013-02-10 23:11:20 CST --- I spent most of my Friday night tracking down the installer bug, but was eventually able to install so this isn't really gated by that issue. With straight library code and an optionless configure, I was not able to reproduce this. However, I went back to the base Gentoo installs and found that 1.5.15 has very garbled sound, but no crash. At 1.5.16, PlayOnline crashes immediately before anything shows on screen. I noticed that the Gentoo ebuilds differ between 1.5.10 (the last stable level for FFXI) and 1.5.15 when it comes to pulseaudio, but 1.5.15 and 1.5.16 appear to be the same. In all cases, I believe I should have pulseaudio disabled. I'll update again when I have more time to play around with configures. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=32897 --- Comment #5 from Ryan <ryanleesipes(a)gmail.com> 2013-06-01 11:01:28 CDT --- Created attachment 44614 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=44614 POL Crash Attached Backtrace (different than OP's) I have the same problem, PlayOnline starts up, I hear music and see black screen, then it crashes. I've tried using different versions of WINE to see if there is a change, but the result is the same. If someone can look at the backtrace and tell me what is happening I would appreciate it a bunch! -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=32897 --- Comment #6 from Austin English <austinenglish(a)gmail.com> --- This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for over a year. Is this still an issue in current (1.7.37 or newer) wine? If so, please attach the terminal output in 1.7.37 (see http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log). -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=32897 --- Comment #8 from Claquesous <btwisgac23(a)gmail.com> --- Sorry for not reporting back! I think I eventually got this to work by changing some of my sound settings. If I remember correctly, after I changed the settings and was able to load the game I went back and changed them back to the previous problematic settings but was still able to load the game. I have not experienced this in a while so I think it's safe to close. Thanks. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. It does not seem like something in Wine was fixed, but does not sound invalid either.
