With pulseaudio killed, BG starts but without sound. Kruppa, I'm interested in the exact configuration that fails. I can only guess what is happening on your system. One easy way to accomplish stopping/starting PA is with pasuspender, run: pasuspender -- wine "blah.exe" opt1 opt1... Note: I'm trying to rally to have the winealsa driver do this on it's own when desired. You can review an example setup here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=11913470&postcount=19 Using winecfg, what does the Audio page say for "Selected driver" AND the settings for output and voice output device? If you wish to alter this the setting is in regedit here: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\drivers Jerome Leclanche, Please don't assume that any/every system that has PA installed is suffering from the same issue, there are now a number of moving parts and any of them can have an issue.
