http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16241 Summary: Call of duty 5 World at War : Fails to initialize Product: Wine Version: 1.1.9 Platform: PC-x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: xvachon(a)gmail.com Created an attachment (id=17502) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=17502) +seh report Contrarily to the test report, my installation went flawless. When I launch the game, I get an unhandled exception. After the first attempt I installed DX9 and the Offscreenrenderingmode, directdrawrenderer and videomemorysize registry keys, the result remains the same. I have attached a +seh output. Should you need more, tell me. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

The game complained about "Component "mswinsck.ocx" or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid". I downloaded the missing file from ocxdump.com, hence fixing this problem. When I now attempt to load the game, nothing happens; the virtual desktop remains empty. An updated +seh log is attached. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Therefore you need a working XAudio2_0.dll, which also needs some registry keys. I'll attach the regfile later. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16241 --- Comment #12 from Christoph Korn <c_korn(a)gmx.de> 2009-01-08 11:44:58 --- I got the menu of CoD5 running. Therefore I did: - sh winetricks directx9 - regedit sound.reg (sound.reg being this file: http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=18560) - patched the current git tree with this patch and compiled: http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=18559 - copied the XAudio2_0.dll from a XP machine into the drive_c/windows/system32 directory. Then I was able to run the menu of CoD5 with the new compiled wine. However, if I do: SOLO -> MISSION SELECT -> Semper Fi -> Recruit to start a new campaign, I am just thrown back to the Mission Select Menu and nothing more happens. It seems that my video card is to bad to support CoD5. That seems the reason why the campaign does not start. If some users with better hardware could confirm that CoD5 works this way the entry in the application database can be changed from GARGABE to something more fitting. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16241 --- Comment #13 from Christoph Korn <c_korn(a)gmx.de> 2009-01-10 09:43:15 --- The reason why the campaign did not start was the internet connection. After closing it the campaign started. But the game runs very slow. Don't know if that is wine or hardware related. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

I got CoD5 running with: - regedit sound.reg (sound.reg being this file: http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=18560) - patched the current git tree with this patch and compiled: http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=18559 - copied the XAudio2_0.dll from a XP machine into the drive_c/windows/system32 directory. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

does winealsa.drv need to check support of ieee_float since most of the hardware does not support float except "pulse" and "plug" plugin http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/cs-020642.htm 32-Bit Playback and Recording None of Intel's desktop boards support 32-bit audio playback or recording. The highest sampling resolution available is 24-bit. This is deemed to be sufficient because popular digital formats like Dolby* and DTS* only support sampling resolutions of 16-bit to 24-bit. High-end external audio card also support up to 24-bit sampling resolution only. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
