For me I get the movie working ... I don't know how, but I have seen it ;-).
The colors are not the right but I can see most of it ...

This step make it work for me:
- delete the .wine-directory
- winecfg and set the Virtual Desktop to 640x480
- wine War3.exe (the application is installed on Z:)

If I didn't set the Virtual Desktop the application hangs, but can be killed.

And you can watch the intro.

My system:
Fedora 7 x86_64
wine 0.9.55
Geforce 8800GTS (100.14.23)
WarCraft 1.18
