This should be fixed for some users as Wine includes an MS Sans Serif font.
However, it isn't fixed for me because of this:
warn:font:AddFontFileToList FreeType version < 2.1.9, skipping bitmap font
"/usr/local/bin/../lib/../share/wine/fonts/sserife.fon"
