[Bug 13725] New: Wine complains in Xubuntu 804

I installed wine 1.0-rc3 in Xubuntu 8.04. I followed steps as shown on http://www.winehq.org/site/download-deb . However when I want to Browse my C drive I get the following error " Failed to open URL "~/.wine/drive_c". " and " The URL "~/.wine/drive_c" is not supported. ". In " /home/myname/.wine/ I have following permissions: drwxrwxrwx 4 myname myname 4096 2008-06-04 18:56 drive_c ". Is this something Xubuntu specific or are there similar bugs reported in Kubuntu, EDUbuntu (and perhaps Ubuntu). is just on the desktop - in wine section there is a shortcut to drive_c but it wont come up instead this error is reported.
~/.wine isn't created until you run a wine application. I get the same error. Cannot use wine because of this error. Anyway until such time as this bug is fixed here is a temporary solution that you will need to do every time wine updates. A simple but inperfect solution: Code: sudo mousepad /usr/share/applications/wine-browsedrive.desktop change line: Code: Exec=xdg-open ~/.wine/drive_c to Code: Exec=xdg-open /home/your_user_name/.wine/drive_c Wait about one minute for changes to take effect. Please contact your distro. Wine does not create any links for it's "c: drive" on the desktop. This is your distro's addition. And if it does not work you need to contact them instead.
