[Bug 29536] New: Popup window shadows sometimes rendered all-black with Microsoft winhlp32
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29536 Bug #: 29536 Summary: Popup window shadows sometimes rendered all-black with Microsoft winhlp32 Product: Wine Version: 1.3.36 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: trivial Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: markk(a)clara.co.uk Classification: Unclassified Created attachment 38269 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=38269 FACTS.HLP compressed with bzip2 This bug shows up when running Microsoft winhlp32.exe under Wine. I tested the versions from Windows 98 and XP. Some help files contain links which when clicked open a pop-up box. The box has a semi-transparent shadow effect to the right and below, achieved by rendering alternate pixels of the shadow area black. In Wine, sometimes the shadow is rendered entirely in black. Whether it's rendered correctly or in black doesn't seem to be consistent; you can click a popup link many times and sometimes the shadow is rendered correctly, other times in black. Or on a page with multiple popup links, clicking on different links gives a different result. Try viewing the attached FACTS.HLP in Microsoft winhlp32 under Wine. Various pages of that help file have popup links. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Tested in wine-1.3.36-200-g0b9948e several times in different pages with and without virtual desktop. I'm using gnome. Currently using Nvidia driver version 280.13. For me, the problem seems more likely to show up when clicking many times quickly on a popup link. Moving the main winhlp32 window then clicking on various different popup links may also help. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29536 --- Comment #4 from Mark K <markk(a)clara.co.uk> 2013-05-02 10:13:13 CDT --- Created attachment 44352 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=44352 Microsoft winhlp32.exe running under Wine showing black drop shadow This bug is still present in Wine 1.5.29. In fact it seems worse than before because drop-shadows are always rendered in black. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29536 --- Comment #6 from Mark K <markk(a)clara.co.uk> 2013-05-02 14:33:24 CDT --- I also saw the problem testing with a Lubuntu 12.10 VirtualBox VM, which suggests the problem isn't caused by the Nvidia binary driver, and with a Xubuntu 13.04 VM, which suggests the problem isn't caused by Openbox (Xubuntu uses xfwm4 for its window manager). -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
