I also encounter problems when using ttyUSB0/1 in wine. 
My GPS-USB works fine under linux, but as soon as i access the connected
device to COM1=/dev/ttyUSB0 the wine-app (german navigation-software:
Map&Guide v9) crashes with a "access violation at ..."

Would be very nice if gps and other usb-serials would work with wine
(not only, but especially because of the lack of proper
car-navigation-software for linux)
