However, I did find out that in .wine/drive_c/... there is an empty folder named World In Conflict. I'm thinking that (following the install instructions), it was installed to .wine-wic/drive_c/.... So then, the problem is that I'm running a nonexistant wic.exe in .wine/drive_c. How do I run the .exe that is in .wine-wic/drive_c... and is it possible to put that info on the install instructions for WIC? So then, as far as I can tell (unless running the .exe in .wine-wic doesn't work), there's no bug. When started in a virtual desktop (it is the right file from the right directory this time), it doesn't load past the virtual desktop blue screen.
