[Bug 18557] New: Slingplayer 2.0 Setup Assistant fails and hangs app
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18557 Summary: Slingplayer 2.0 Setup Assistant fails and hangs app Product: Wine Version: 1.1.21 Platform: PC URL: http://download.slingmedia.com/player/pc/SP2/SlingPlay er-2.0.3508-Setup-EMEA.exe OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: kennybobs(a)o2.co.uk Created an attachment (id=21218) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=21218) wine-1.1.21-316-g8f33420 console output Slingplayer 2.0 opens the Setup Assistant to set Slingplayer and Slingbox settings, update firmware, and to log into Sling.com to retrieve personal information. The Setup Assistant is basically a web page loaded in a small window that interacts with the Slingplayer via what appears to be Javascript and ActiveX. Upon loading the Assistant, nothing happens, just a blank screen. Closing the window makes the Slingplayer unusable and has to be killed. Installing IE6 throws a bunch of scripting and ActiveX errors before also failing. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

This bug is still present in latest git. As Nikolay explains here: http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26591#c9 "Our implementation doesn't support relative url for this method yet." Which explains why the Assistant doesn't work, but not really the app hanging (unless that's a bug in the app itself). -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18557 Ken Sharp <imwellcushtymelike(a)gmail.com> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Resolution|--- |FIXED Status|NEW |RESOLVED --- Comment #17 from Ken Sharp <imwellcushtymelike(a)gmail.com> --- With Wine 3.0-rc4 the following is repeated in the console continuously: 0009:fixme:mshtml:OleInPlaceActiveObject_TranslateAccelerator (0x10a47ea8)->(0x1adb58) 0009:fixme:mshtml:OleInPlaceActiveObject_TranslateAccelerator (0x78a53c0)->(0x1adb58) A crash is avoided by setting jscript back to builtin (a winetricks recipe sets it to native, builtin, possibly the wmp9 installer?) The nature of this bug has changed but it varies from a hang to a crash to doing nothing and often back again. There seems little point in creating a new bug report every time something's changed as it's not clear if anything is fixed. Given that the original hang-and-has-to-be-killed issue no longer occurs, I'm marking this as fixed. I'll see if I can find details for meaningful follow-up bug reports. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
