http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33861 --- Comment #1 from Nikolay Sivov <bunglehead(a)gmail.com> 2013-06-23 01:33:56 CDT --- That's how it's supposed to be, there's no way to precisely relate wine-gecko version to IE, cause it mostly supports what have been tested in real application, and it doesn't try to implement particular IE release. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33861 --- Comment #3 from dino <dyvazar(a)numericable.fr> 2013-06-23 08:33:06 CDT --- I understand your explanation; but its quite confusing, and wrong, as the "help menu" display "about Internet Explorer". so if its not possible to get an IE version, then the "help menu" should propose "about wine" instead, or a comment about a "fake IE" -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Still valid 1.9.21-git. Any idea how to fetch wine-gecko version? The fix would be simple to add. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Right, I don't see how it's useful, since you can't switch to different wine-gecko version.
I disagree. At least Debian doesn't ship wine-gecko*. Running iexplore will run, but pages won't load. Loading the about dialog works, and I see the wine version. Ideally, it would show that no gecko version is loaded, instead. Well, they do, but it's usually out of date since they do a Copyright audit before pushing a new package version, which is usually delayed for quite some time. E.g., the latest is 2.24, https://packages.debian.org/source/jessie/wine-gecko-2.24, which is pre 1.8. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
