[Bug 15550] New: With Ati GPU, wine stops working playing Drakensang
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15550 Summary: With Ati GPU, wine stops working playing Drakensang Product: Wine Version: 1.1.5 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: malte(a)cornils.net Created an attachment (id=16535) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=16535) Wine stderr output Installing Drakensang following AppDB instructions: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=13249 (i.e. Patching game to 1.01, installing DirectX and special Xact audio drivers, patching wine for the err:d3d:getColorBits Unsupported format: WINED3DFMT_R32F problem and using -novideo) gets Drakensang to the loading bar. The cursor turns brown (animated cursor) then and a black screen happens with builtin DLLs. Using native, builtin for all DLLs got me an additional error message: *** NEBULA ASSERTION *** programmer says: nD3D9Shader:BeginPass() failed on effect expression: FAILED(hr) file: ..\src\gfx2\nd3d9shader_main.cc line: 616 This does not happen in pure builtin mode, but then, nothing but a black screen happens. This is on a Mobility Radeon 9600, Catalyst fglrx drivers 8.9. There is a related forum post in the appdb entry from Florian Ritter. The game seems to work on Nvidia cards. The captured wine error log (pure builtin DLLs) is attached. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15550 --- Comment #2 from Malte Cornils <malte(a)cornils.net> 2009-04-22 15:36:37 --- Hmm, well, unfortunately I gave up and bought a new computer with an NVIDIA GPU and the proprietary driver - there, it works. The old computer is now on Ubuntu Jaunty, which means there is no good fglrx driver for the r300 chip anymore. This means I cannot really try again whether this bug works - as long as no one else with a similar configuration steps up, I would recommend closing this bug (as ABANDONED?), otherwise leave it open as INCOMPLETE until someone tries with wine 1.1.19.
