http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21796 GyB <gyebro69(a)gmail.com> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |gyebro69(a)gmail.com --- Comment #4 from GyB <gyebro69(a)gmail.com> 2010-03-18 14:59:12 --- I have the same issue trying the demo version of the game, using Wine-1.1.40. The game starts but only black screen can be seen, although the game is running, you can hear the sounds of the intro and keyboard works too. Tried with both fullscreen and virtual desktop mode. I've tried numerous Wine versions including 1.1.9, 1.1.15, 1.1.22, 1.1.33, 1.1.39, 1.1.40 but the same 'black-screen-only' issue happens. Installing native DX libraries doesn't help. Interestingly the game has pretty good ratings on Wineappdb: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=1906 Fedora 12 x86 Wine-1.1.40 from source Nvidia 7600 GT with driver 195.36.08 My console log is showing almost exactly the same as NickNill's, except I have no those 'fixme:d3d:state_clipping Clipping disabled, but ARB_depth_clamp isn't supported' lines in there. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21796 --- Comment #5 from GyB <gyebro69(a)gmail.com> 2010-03-25 15:32:55 --- Created an attachment (id=27042) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=27042) terminal output (using native msvcrt.dll) I'm still experiencing this issue using Wine-1.1.41. There are bug #8345 and bug #5875 which describe the exact same issue with the game. Both of them had been marked as FIXED. The changelog for Wine-1.1.27 states this issue has been fixed in that version. I tried 1.1.27 (among other Wine versions) but the issue still exists for me. It might be a Nvidia driver issue, but I can't test it with any other driver version (I can only see 19x.x drivers in the RPMfusion repos, match for a 7xxx series card) Fedora 12 x86 Wine-1.1.41 Nvidia 7600 GT with driver 195.36.08 -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21796 --- Comment #6 from GyB <gyebro69(a)gmail.com> 2010-03-28 10:41:02 --- Workaround: using a no-cd "patch" I don't really know if its a copy-protection issue, or simply the crack is more "Wine-friendly", because there were no signs of DRM neither in the demo nor in the GoG version. But here's the fact: after applying the proper no-cd "patch" both the demo and the digital distribution version of the game began to work. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

I found another work-around: before starting the game I execute "xdotool selectwindow windowunmap". When I hear the game introduction I click anywhere on the screen: the black window is unmapped, and the game that was behind it on another window appears. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21796 --- Comment #73 from Dreamkey <ghost_anarky(a)hotmail.com> --- I tried with wine-staging 10.17 and the EGL renderer. The bug is still there with the xdotool work-around still needed, but worse, the videos are not displaying anymore, only the sound is played (Microids logo and game intro while starting a new game). Not sure if it's related, there is a lot of "libEGL warning: FIXME: egl/x11 doesn't support front buffer rendering." showing in the terminal. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. I confirm this separate issue of videos not displaying with wine-10.17. It corresponds to bug 58812, which was fixed by commit 63e6cfa106a0b12351e8d01eb5bfefd925c3a74e https://gitlab.winehq.org/wine/wine/-/commit/63e6cfa106a0b12351e8d01eb5bfefd... However, the initial problem that is the subject of this bug report has still not been fixed. The workaround remains the same: 'wine Game.exe & xdotool selectwindow windowunmap' -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
