[Bug 19896] New: GPSU can not connect to GPS device with serial USB connector
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=19896 Summary: GPSU can not connect to GPS device with serial USB connector Product: Wine Version: 1.0.1 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: j-clark(a)lineone.net Running GPS Utility 5.02 under wine 1.0.1 (provided by Ubuntu). Most functions seem to work, but I get a timeout when trying to connect to my GPS device. GPS is Garmin Geko 201 with serial port, connecting via USB serial adaptor. This function used to work, using GPSU 4.95 and GPSU 4.99 under a 0.9? (whatever version of wine was shipped with Ubunutu Hardy Heron) version of wine. Since moving to Jaunty Jackalaope I haven't had it working. I have recreated the problem using wine 1.1.27 with both GPSU 4.99 and GPSU 5.02. I have done the usual things to ensure the com port under wine is linked to /dev/ttyUSB0, and permissions are OK. Working scenarios include: - with Windows Vista i.e. running GPSU under Windows - using gpsman under Linux - I can connect to the GPS on the serial port using a native Linux app. It is just using the windows app (GPSU) under wine that fails. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=19896 --- Comment #2 from Juan Lang <juan_lang(a)yahoo.com> 2009-09-01 13:42:37 --- If it stopped working between 0.9 something and 1.0.1, a regression test might point out the culprit: http://wiki.winehq.org/RegressionTesting -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=19896 kbergen(a)telus.net changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |kbergen(a)telus.net --- Comment #4 from kbergen(a)telus.net 2013-05-22 16:11:22 CDT --- I too am having this problem. Observations: The problem for me started with Mandriva 2009.0 (works with Mandriva 2008.1) At that time the ownership of /dev/ttyUSBx changed from owner (logged in user) group (uucp) to owner (root) group (dialout) Changing ownership of /dev/ttyUSBx didn't help nor did using an older version of wine. I'm currently running Mageia3 with wine-1.5.27 and the problem persists. When run from a console hundreds of lines of fixme:ntdll:server_ioctl_file Unsupported ioctl 1b0048 (device=1b access=0 func=12 method=0) are output when attempting to connect to the GPS. If more information would help just ask as the only thing holding me back from upgrading my Laptop is this issue. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
