[Bug 10248] New: Carrara 5 Pro W/ 5.1patch: 3D View draw/ render fails to show 3D objects
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10248 Summary: Carrara 5 Pro W/ 5.1patch: 3D View draw/render fails to show 3D objects Product: Wine Version: 0.9.47. Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P1 Component: wine-misc AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: tempeodor(a)yahoo.com In Wine 0.9.47, after opening the program, when I open a new document to start a session the 3D view window opens for the new document but is completely blank with the word "Rendering..." up in the corner indicating it's trying but failing to show/render the scene in the 3D view window area. When I load a 3D object the 3D view window continues to show nothing then the words "Failed to render" appear in the upper left corner after a few seconds. Also menus fail to show and are cut off from the point where they cross over the view window. Total show stopper. Program data. Carrara 5Pro W/ render node installed plus update patch 5.1 on both. A trial verison of this 3D program can be found at DAZ3D with this link. http://www.daz3d.com/i.x/support/downloads/-/?product=car_down Extra note. Carrara 5Pro worked fine in the past under Wine 0.9.33 but the other programs I must use only work in the latest Wine. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10248 --- Comment #1 from mylemonblue <tempeodor(a)yahoo.com> 2007-10-30 19:34:23 --- I just relised I left out one thing. When you go to close the program it hangs and will not close. (this was also not a issue in the earlier Wine 0.9.33 but is now in Wine 0.9.47) -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10248 --- Comment #2 from Austin English <austinenglish(a)gmail.com> 2007-10-30 19:57:58 --- If it worked in wine 0.9.33, then find out what patch broke it: http://wiki.winehq.org/RegressionTesting -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10248 mylemonblue <tempeodor(a)yahoo.com> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Priority|P1 |P2 --- Comment #3 from mylemonblue <tempeodor(a)yahoo.com> 2007-10-30 23:43:21 --- Ok I followed the regression test instructions. I got the git-core and installed ccache as it said to for my Ubuntu. It all seemed to install without a hitch but I may have missed something my I can't identify because of my lack of experience. After running the Bisect the end result looks like something blew up somewhere in the process I can't identify. It doesn't match up with what I think the instructions were saying. This is what I got is this from the step to run the program(Carrara5Pro).(note the instructions use of "./wine" was rejected by Terminal so I used "wine" to install and run the program) mariko(a)mariko:~/wine-git$ wine "C:\Program Files\Eovia\Carrara 5 Pro\Carrara.exe" fixme:process:GetProcessWorkingSetSize (0xffffffff,0x33fb80,0x33fb84): stub fixme:wininet:InternetGetConnectedState always returning LAN connection. err:d3d:InitAdapters Failed to get gl HDC err:d3d:InitAdapters Failed to get gl HDC At this point it hung and my "mariko(a)mariko:~/wine-git$" prompt never came back. In fact I got no prompt of any kind at this point. The bug was still present so I tried the "git bisect bad" in the instructions anyways and Terminal just froze. Sigh. I'm gutsy enough to do unfamiliar things but perhaps it's a little early in my three weeks of Linux experience to be trying to do this kind of problem solving yet. My apologies I believe I may be over my head at the moment. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Rahyen <mail(a)science.su> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |mail(a)science.su --- Comment #4 from L. Rahyen <mail(a)science.su> 2007-10-31 10:05:29 --- After you tried to run application and it blocked your terminal you need to execute wineserver -k to force all Windows applications that belongs to current wine prefix directory to close. If terminal is blocked, either press Ctrl-z and execute "wineserver -k" or execute "wineserver -k" in any other terminal. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10248 --- Comment #5 from mylemonblue <tempeodor(a)yahoo.com> 2007-10-31 12:37:23 --- Sigh. I don't know what the installation and execution of those aps for the regression test are supposed to do to my existing installation of wine but what was running on it before now is not. I hope I can undo this some how. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10248 --- Comment #6 from mylemonblue <tempeodor(a)yahoo.com> 2007-10-31 13:46:34 --- So far all I've figured out is one of the Regression Testing steps moved my .wine directory into a back up directory and I don't know if there is a proper way to put it right again without screwing things up worse on some possible configuration file I don't know of somewhere. I know you can't always just start deleting and moving things around. That page didn't warn this was going on and I can't identify on that page a way of putting things back as they were properly. My wine install is going to start killing kittens if it isn't back to normal soon. LOL. All I wanted to do is make known this Carrara 5 Pro problem. I by no means am ready to become a developer and my PC is no spare that can be used for testing things. Now what was all this put on my system and how do I get it back to normal? This is last time I do something for anyone unless they first fully explain what I'm getting into. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10248 --- Comment #7 from Juan Lang <juan_lang(a)yahoo.com> 2007-11-02 10:08:07 --- No big deal, you can just remove the directory that contains the wine source. It's only ever got one copy of the built version of wine, and it doesn't install it unless you tell it to (e.g. via 'sudo make install'.) If wine 0.9.33 worked for you, just install that again. A regression test helps us identify precisely what caused the problem, so that hopefully we can fix it. Helping us helps make Wine better for everyone. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10248 --- Comment #8 from mylemonblue <tempeodor(a)yahoo.com> 2007-11-05 07:48:07 --- If I can find another Linux user to see if I didn't mess up dependencies on the installs involved for setting up the regression test I may attempt it again. Sorry for my noobness with Linux. In the mean time I found out something that might have some value. In the program under the menu, "File/Preferences/General Scene Settings/Interactive Renderer/," there is a choice for either "OpenGL" or "Eovia Software." Setting it to "OpenGL" returned the document view completely to normal. (the OpenGL is normaly resurved for studio level hardware so this was unexpected) -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
