Why do you think it's invalid and not fixed?
What makes you think it's fixed? There's not really evidence either way. Whithout the trick gthe game works too just not perfect. With the trick the graphics perfect. With older wine versions (I tested since 1.5.x) the game has bugs with cursor and with localisation.
