That means you have not cleaned your ~/.wine directory from prior stuff. I can't reproduce this with the trial.

Argh. I closed the wrong one. You need to enter a serial to get this error. The trial doesn't try to register. Installs as before, but the "Finish" dialog doesn't appear. The application installs Wine Gecko and doesn't even make it to the registration dialog. Installing Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0 works fine until you attempt to register or skip registration. At that point, none of the buttons for Register/Register Later/Never Mind do not work. Is this still an issue in current (1.1.10 or newer) wine? Do any free trials still have the problem?
