It would be nice to somehow set the initial geometry of the 
MSVC developer studio window. As it is, it always starts
"maximized" (with my fvwm that's maximized only in height),
even after I unmaximize and resize before exiting.

Application/WM controls that not Wine.

Most windows apps save their last state and restore it after start. Putting any
limitations to that is wrong. Besides there is the same functionality available
from the WM. Or that's where it have to be provided from.

Closing Won't fix - this is beyond the scope of Wine / or even harmful.
