Then I found that it works well with Otvdm (https://github.com/otya128/winevdm) on Windows. Since that is also based on Wine it should be possible to find and port changes back. Unfortunately the changes are complex and the code is a mess. Finally I realized that with a simple change it is possible to run Otvdm in Wine. I'm attaching a wrapper to properly load otvdm in Wine. This is known to be a workaround for bug 51249 and bug 50092.
