Lots of effect patches have been merged into wine since report time. And it may have nothing to do with the crash, but I quess a more recent wine would give different output.
The latest report at appdb is against 2.3 and it claims that it works out of box with wine.

No snapshot of WOWS 0.5.x client exists. Even then you wouldn't be able to reproduce because you can't login to servers without a forced client upgrade.
