The game starts in a window and plays the intro movies (audio works in the videos) then the screen remains black and the game halts (0% CPU usage). If I disable mmdevapi then the game loads to the main menu and runs (without sound). The game calls SuspendThread from inside the callback killing itself. When you disable mmdevapi the game will fail on waveOutOpen and will not reach that code.
