It can run in software, d3d and glide mode. In wine 1.0 all modes run perfectly apart from 2 cursors not showing in the car management screen In wine 1.1.5 software mode runs perfectly with the cursors showing as normal but the d3d or glide version show a scrambled intro screen where you choose play, options etc. and in between levels screen is scrambled at parts. Most likely this is because my patch reveals a bug with surfaces where simply locking and unlocking surfaces that are not the full screen corrupts the surface.
I have cced Stefan on this as he had told me he was going to look into this issue.

Is this still an issue in current (1.1.19 or newer) wine?
I am afraid it still is with vs 1.1.20. Interestingly now it only works with the glide wrapper. When I first install the game and on the menu try to go to options to choose d3d, the game crashes. If I have the glide wrapper installed, the menu screen is scrambled. Now the screen is not garbled when running the game but black. Once the mouse hovers over a button then part of the screen shows. Once the mouse has gone over all the buttons (3 in all) then the whole screen is visible, completely normal! Hi there, nice to see that obscure old games receive some tender loving care by the wine team! There was a demo here: http://www.localditch.com/interstate-76/downloads.html that says it requires directx3 (d/l link dead) so not sure what you have. Yeah, the D3D version was an experimental patch for the full game. Ok re-installed linux (trying opensuse that killed the X server after update, now back on good old Mint), playonlinux and the game and I only saw the scrambled screen problem once on the gold updated version but not on the original (I kept 2 different copies) but now I cannot reproduce the scrambled screen. I installed the glide wrapper dgvoodo but I cannot see how this could change things. Let me reinstall tomorrow the game from scratch together with the gold update only and tell you if anything is going on with wine version 1.2 and the latest too.
