I get the same broken image as my 2007 screen shot without any text until I zoom in to about 50%. I can get text to show if I drag a different window of the top of the area. If I give focus back to VMA the text disappears. At a zoomed about 50% or higher a section of the surface is drawn but is smaller then the size of the window. By panning (dragging the surface) it looks like the software transforms the canvas view region to a longitude and latitude range that should cover the whole canvas when applied to spherical surface but it is big enough. see my next screen shot of the zoomed problem.
