[Bug 11583] New: Neverwinter Nights 2: outdoors textures sometimes all white/gray
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11583 Summary: Neverwinter Nights 2: outdoors textures sometimes all white/gray Product: Wine Version: 0.9.54. Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: minor Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: Simetrical+wine(a)gmail.com When playing Neverwinter Nights 2, version 1.11.1153 (no expansion pack), sometimes in outdoors environments all textures are white or gray, making navigation fairly hard. Apparently this occurs only during the daytime. I've attached a debug log from me starting the game, loading a saved game exhibiting the problem, wandering around for a minute, and then exiting, with debug options: warn+all, debug+all, err+all,+trace. Some relevant-looking lines that are repeated very frequently are: warn:d3d_shader:IWineD3DVertexShaderImpl_CompileShader Swizzled attribute validation required an expensive comparison fixme:d3d_shader:shader_glsl_select >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> GL_INVALID_OPERATION (0x502) from glUseProgramObjectARB @ glsl_shader.c / 3226 Especially the second. But what do I know. :) If there's anything else I can do to help (screenshot? different debug options?) please say. See also comment at <http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=10531>: "The outdoor setting that was used in many of the towns and villages had light problems. The problem seemed to arise at daytime, and seemed to be a result of incorrectly handled light effects. It resulted in a screen that was too bright, often so bright that nothing at all could be seen. The only remedy was either to wait for the night to kick in or to try to navigate using the map which was really annoying." -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11583 --- Comment #7 from Simetrical <Simetrical+wine(a)gmail.com> 2008-02-20 19:38:42 --- Created an attachment (id=10875) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=10875) Better (?) debug log, 0.9.55 This is a log of my doing the following, in 0.9.55: 1) Starting NWN2 and loading a random outdoor saved game 2) Going into console, DebugMode 1, gfxoptions, closing console 3) Going to the "Weather" panel and setting rain to on (inducing the bug) 4) Running around/fighting for a minute or so, with the entire screen white so that I could see almost nothing 5) Exiting As requested, I didn't modify $DEBUGOPTIONS at all this time. Note that I can confirm there's an easy workaround for this: it seems to occur exactly when it's raining, and rain can be disabled (or enabled) at will by entering the key sequence ~DebugMode 1 gfxoptions DebugMode 0 ~ (open console, enter commands, close console) and then turning off rain in the Weather tab. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

It tends to segfault or give errors about version mismatches. (Compiling 1.0.1 gives "version mismatch 0/381", using packaged Intrepid 1.0.1 works fine . . .) I'll try with the winehq.org packages. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Using either packaged 1.0.1 from the Ubuntu Intrepid repositories, or 1.1.16 from the winehq.org Intrepid repository, the program crashes with a backtrace on start. This doesn't appear to be a regression, it must be something in the OS upgrade that broke it. I guess I should file another bug on that, but I'm not willing to put in the time to test reinstalling the application, etc., since I no longer play it. I've attached the log from the crash under 1.1.16, in case that's helpful. The 1.0.1 log appeared similar. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

AFAIK, i am experiencing a total white screen with bloom and significantly brighter screen without bloom. This only occurs with rain. Spell effects are ok so far. For your screenshot, it seems different as there are black areas. Turning gamma to minimum seems to solve the problem, but it becomes extra dark when rain stops. Using the console to stop rain solves the problem. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

ATI drivers 13.6_beta, Radeon 7950. GOG version. Problem happens only if Character Shadows are more advanced than Low. (drop shadows) Other settings don't affect the issue at all. It's reproducible in some random places, but many times. Does not happen on native Windows. Does not happen with Intel HD 3000. Cannot test with Radeon open driver, because support for Southern Islands requires very new 32-bit Mesa, which is non-trivial to build.
