Howto reproduce the bug: Start the demo, chances are good that the pointer is already invisible. After you start a new game press <ESC> (brings up the menu) >> mouse pointer can not be seen. You can switch between fullscreen and windowed mode in the game which brings back the pointer in the menu...but as soon as you return to the game and press <ESC> again, the mouse pointer is invisible again. Tried with both Wine's fullscreen and virtual desktop mode. Please retest with latest git.
I think it's FIXED in osmos. Howto test it with Osmos demo: Start a new game, move the mouse i.e. the upper-left corner of the screen, then press <ESC>: the pointer is invisible until you move the mouse a bit. The same is in Riven: you have to move the mouse whenever the game displays a new location else the pointer cannot be seen. Tried with wine-1.1.43-191-g7614656, the issue is definitely improved but not fixed completely: the mouse pointer stays invisible until you move the mouse.
