[Bug 46087] New: Directx9 games are very slow (unusable)
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46087 Bug ID: 46087 Summary: Directx9 games are very slow (unusable) Product: Wine-staging Version: 3.19 Hardware: x86 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: major Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org Reporter: mochobb(a)clix.pt CC: leslie_alistair(a)hotmail.com, z.figura12(a)gmail.com Distribution: --- Created attachment 62718 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=62718 Hardware specs and terminal output I noticed that suddenly games were very slow (it takes seconds just to highlight a menu item). I tested Shadow Warrior 2 and XCOM: Enemy Unknown. The first game I had never tried, but I know the performance of the second one. I downgraded wine-staging until I got a working version: 3.15. The other versions tried were 3.17, 3.18 and 3.19. The terminal output is attached. The output refers to XCOM, launching the game up to the menu and exiting. Also attached are my hardware specifications. Thank you very much for reading this. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46087 --- Comment #1 from mbb <mochobb(a)clix.pt> --- I forgot to mention the hardware is x86-64 but this happens in both 32bit and 64bit prefixes. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46087 --- Comment #3 from mbb <mochobb(a)clix.pt> --- Sorry, I don't quite understand what you mean by "upstream". You mean download wine from its site and run it manually? Well, I guess I can compile it from the AUR PKGBUILD, or download an RPM and run it manually. So you think this is a packaging issue? Also, this is isn't tied to XCOM. Shadow Warrior 2 displays the same errors, and runs normally with 3.15 (though slow due to my specs). I haven't tried more games but I can, if you need me to. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. Depending on which it is, we can perform a bisection to determine which Staging patch or upstream commit (respectively) is to blame, though the procedure is different for each. Title updated; I misread your first comment. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

No slowdown whatsoever. I'll test my desktop with this Wine version tomorrow, with several games. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46087 --- Comment #6 from mbb <mochobb(a)clix.pt> --- Created attachment 62741 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=62741 Laptop output for Commandos 3 with wine-staging 3.19 I installed wine-staging on my laptop, recreated the prefix and reinstalled Commandos 3. The terminal output is attached. I haven't noticed any slowdowns, but note this output carries the error: "err:d3d:validate_state_table State STATE_RENDER(unrecognized) (0xd2) should have a representative." Just like my desktop's output, while the previous output (with upstream wine) only had fixmes. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. The terminal output is attached. I won't be able to test any other game for today. I'll test another one tomorrow if I can. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
