Tested recently under Fedora 23 Wayland, that is not the case. How to replicate 1. Run Live for Speed 2. Press Ctrl + C until "CTRL + C - mouse clipped to window" message appears 3. There is no mouse pointer confinement implemented yet for xwayland, but patches exists. I will close this bug as NOTOURBUG.
